Krefeld Fire Station
LIST Construction has won the City of Krefeld’s negotiated procedure with a competitive bidding process for the construction of a new fire station for the volunteer fire department.
Together with LIST Eco and LIST Ingenieure, LIST, as the general contractor, will handle the design, planning, and turnkey construction. A five-year maintenance contract is also included in the agreement. The plan calls for a two-story building centered around a vehicle bay for four vehicles: The ground floor will house, among other things, a wash bay, changing rooms, a lounge, restrooms, storage, and mechanical/electrical rooms; the upper floor will feature meeting rooms, offices, additional mechanical/electrical and storage rooms, restrooms, and kitchen areas. The interior finish is minimalist, so the requirements for MEP and building automation are correspondingly high.
The design follows the Cradle-to-Cradle approach with a focus on reuse and the ability to separate materials by type. The use of ten Cradle to Cradle materials is planned. The fire station will be constructed using a hybrid timber structure, supplemented by low-carbon concrete and/or R-concrete. The facade will be clad with reused clinker bricks. A green roof (both extensive and intensive) and a PV system are planned. The project aims to achieve DGNB Gold (DGNB Flex) and QNG certification.
